Secularism

Came across this article on pushing hindus to a corner .

Can't help but have to agree with many points. I don't support radical actions of violence in any form, by anybody. But I really wonder at times that does secularism mean giving undeserved preferences to the minority?

Why is the media so obsessed with highlighting and sensationalizing everything that has to do with minorities? One answer that comes to mind is: to make sure that the minorities are not oppressed. But, then why not give same coverage for issues with the majorities - just to make sure that humans are not oppressed?

And by the way, should not a secular state have common civil code?
